Sango-kaku is an extremely popular acer cultivar, sporting colourful deciduous foliage for most of the year. The leaves themselves initially develop as a pinkish yellow before maturing into a lush green at the height of summer, these leaves eventually mellow into a softer yellow colour during autumn, providing a wonderful contrast with the stems.
