Overview

An interesting, low growing variety of Juniperus known sometimes as Creeping Juniper. The ‘Blue Chip’ is a near-flat grower, preferring to spread outward quickly and makes for excellent groundcover for woodland display at the base of trees or borders. The foliage is dense, with fine, scale-like, blue-green leaves growing in a feathered pattern. The mildly scented foliage gains hues of bronze and purple during the Winter. Can be grown potted as a patio plant to limit its growth or left to grow and cascade in a hanging plant style. Plant in medium moisture, well-drained soils and keep in full or partial sun. Drought tolerant once established. Susceptible to damage from overwatering and waterlogged soils. A versatile plant that thrives in most poor soils and conditions, including coastal areas. Please Note: When purchasing plants please consider that each live item is unique and may, therefore, differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. This plant will be supplied in a grower’s pot. Characteristics: Low growing, spreading evergreen coniferous shrub with fine, needle-like, blue-green foliage with slight purple tinge in Winter. Growth & Spread: Ultimate height of 0.1 - 0.5m and spread of 1 - 2m. Period of Interest: Year-round foliage interest. Mildly scented foliage in a branching, spreading habit with the fine leaves in a pressed, scale-like pattern. Insignificant flowering. Water & Maintenance: Plant in moderately moist, well-drained soil. Keep in full or partial sun. Drought tolerant once established. Avoid wet and waterlogged soils.
