As unusual it might seem, Coprosma Tequila Sunrise is an exceptional small evergreen shrub that will stun garden visitors with its spectrum of variegated leaf colours. It is an upright mounding shrub that bears highly glossy and vibrantly coloured leaves in yellow, orange, green and red shades. This jewel-like foliage makes it a very attractive indoor or outdoor container plant. It is also ideal for mass planting or as a great accent plant. Also known as the Mirror Plant, this easy to grow shrub produces multi-coloured ovate leaves that create an appearance resembling gemstones. This is an amazing cultivar with stunning foliage colours throughout the year. The new leaves emerge as emerald green margined in gold, that are marbled with orange tones. The colour of the leaves deepens in winter to bright orange and red. Tequila Sunrise will look best in full sunlight but will do great even in partial shady spots. It prefers growing in a well-drained soil and turns drought and salty wind tolerant as it matures, which makes it a good choice for coastal gardens. Water well during early growth and add a fertiliser feed once every year. Use a loam-based compost when growing Tequila Sunrise in a container and keep the soil moist in winter. Mirror Plants look great in containers and look even more stunning in mass plantings. Use them to add ornamental value in a rock garden or general landscape.
