Elegant leaves from an easy to care for plant Dracaena plants contain around 200 different varieties with some wild specimens growing to heights of over 50 feet! As houseplants, they are often easy to care for and great for beginners . This Sanderiana variety is sometimes given the common name of 'lucky bamboo' though it isn't actually bamboo... The central stalk may resemble a bamboo plant but this variety is covered in variegated leaves of deep green with a white cream edge . The leaves droop out from the central stalk and cover the full height of the plant. Dracaenas are excellent for adding beautiful foliage to a room with minimal effort. Dracaenas are also excellent plants for purifying the air , named by NASA as one of the best. Monsteras are happiest in bright light but not direct sun as this will cause their leaves to yellow. A little way back from a window in a bright room is ideal. Water once a week , adding in a liquid plant feed once a month through summer for an added boost to growth. Allow the water to run right through the soil and out of the drainage holes of the nursery pot , leaving the water 10 minutes or so to sink through before returning to the display pot.
