Overview

Giant Rhubarb Gunnera Manicata - 30L Pot Gunnera Manicata is a spectacular garden plant that needs plenty of room - its giant leaves can grow up to 3 metres across. It is a clump-forming herbaceous perennial plant, meaning that its foliage dies back in winter to re-emerge new growth from its rootstock in the following spring. In spring, its stunning, cone-shaped, brown flower heads are first to appear, followed by the new leaves which have a spectacular growth rate. This tall, architectural plant is ideal for planting as a single focus plant, or by the side of large ponds to create spectacular structural displays. Gunnera Manicata has been awarded the Award of Garden Merit given by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS), which helps gardeners make informed choices about plants. The contemporary range is an exclusive selection of highly desirable garden plants which will create very modern, structural displays that are full of colour and architectural qualities all year round. In this collection highly versatile and low maintenance plants are offered, which can be chosen from varieties of grasses, ferns, bamboos, phormiums, perennials, cannas and bananas to admire and inspire. The Award of Garden Merit or AGM is an award made to garden plants by the British Royal Horticultural Society after a period of assessment by the appropriate committees of the Society. Awards are made annually after plant trials (which may last for one or more years, depending on the type of plant being trialled) at RHS Garden, Wisley and other RHS gardens, or after observation of plants in specialist collections. This is intended to judge the plants' performance for conditions in the UK. Below is a comparison of pot sizes. From left to right: 9cm Pot, 1L Pot, 3L Pot
