Rootballed plants are only supplied from late autumn to early spring when they are dormant, as this reduces the shock of having their root systems cut and ensures the plants will grow away reliably in the spring as the weather warms up. Hedges should be planted as soon as possible after delivery provided the ground is not waterlogged or frozen . Evergreen plants should also be given protection from cold winds. After planting, your hedge should be thoroughly watered even if rain is due and then kept well watered for the first year to help establish roots. Check your plants regularly as they can become loose after heavy winds or frost.
